Day Breaker is from Boston Massachusetts. Mixing elements of Good indie, Rock and a whole lot of feeling they create a very warm and enjoyable sound. Although they do not currently have an full length album out they are in the process of recording and you can download a 3 song demo here.City Lights, The first song on the demo really gives you a feel for what this band is like. With a great little whoa part during the bridge and a sad undertone of being down on your luck and only having one thing that is keeping your head up it's something that we can all relate to. The bridge brings this song together putting together the catchy rhythms of the song with the melodramatic lyrics in a way that flows together well.
Lanterns, This is probably my favorite of the three songs. Lanters starts out with a nice little riff before the vocals of love and youth kick in. The message of this song is no matter what you lose don't give up. "Enjoy the lanterns in our lives, our future’s far too bright to let them die." This song is one of those sing along jams. I'm all about it.
The Way Up North, Good sounding guitars and a nice musical outro really make this song. The Chorus "Some day love is gonna find me, it might not be today, but some day this love is gonna make its way to me." is definitely one to get stuck in your head hours after you listen to it and its a real nice way to end this 3 song demo from Day Breaker. Out of all of them this would be my least favorite but by no means do I not like it.
The Demo has a great feel to it and the production quality is outstanding which is surprising due to the fact that most demos sound awful. I'm really happy with what the dudes and Day Breaker are bringing to the music scene in Massachusetts and if you are into bands like The Spill Canvas and Piebald I would definitely check these guys out.
